Cruise News: Carnival Jubilee Float Out

Image
Well, it's official: she floats. This past Friday, Carnival's newest ship, the 183,200 GT Carnival Jubilee, had her float out.  The ship, originally planned for AIDA Cruises tested out her bow thrusters and stabilizers on Saturday.  The ship is slated to be homeported in Galveston, and proudly displays the Texas Star on her bow.  Like her sister ships, Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration, she features and low-emission liquefied natural gas (LGN) propulsion system. Her first cruise out of Galveston is scheduled for December 23, 2023.  Take a look:

Ship Life: But What Do You Do On A Cruise???

An often asked question in the cruise groups is 'but what do you do all day on the ship?' and when we were planning our first cruise, it was one of the Lord's biggest worries- will I be bored? Well, thanks to Carnival's horrendous decision to start handing out printed copies of the Fun Times to every single room, every single day, I have that answer for you!   Check out our daily Fun Times from a cruise in April on the Legend. Click to open- Day 1 Side 1       Day 1 Side 2 Day 2 Side 1       Day 2 Side 2 Day 3 Side 1       Day 3 Side 2 Day 4 Side 1       Day 4 Side 2 Day 5 Side 1       Day 5 Side 2 Day 6 Side 1       Day 6 Side 2 Day 7 Side 1       Day 7 Side 2 ...just a little digression on the printed Fun Times... I know that a lot of old timers really wanted them to bring back the physical copies, but they're not great for the environment- and I find the disclaimer at th...

Cruise News: Carnival to Offer Late Night Snacks

Image
Ahoy Sailors!  Carnival just announced some big news for our night owls! Covid took away so many things, including Carnival's popular midnight buffet. It's not coming back, but in a post from John Heald on 7/14, he announced that they will be complimenting their late night pizza offering with a few more delicious snacks - starting on or around 7/21.  Per Heald, "The opening/closing timing may vary from ship to ship, and it will be determined by each ship, considering factors such as peak periods and guest demographics." I am super excited for the new menu, and it's just in time for Lord and Lady Lido's next cruise!  Check out the menu below: I also think it's interesting that they've added chips and salsa to the menu.  It'll be nice to have something truly snack-y on the menu! I sort of wish they were offered 24/7 though so I could enjoy a beer and chips by the pool! I guess I'll just have to make use of those ziptop bags I love much, and gra...
